Indiana University of Pennsylvania and its employees are committed to assuring a safe and productive educational environment for all students. In order to meet this commitment and to comply with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the university requires employees to report incidents of sexual misconduct shared by students to the University’s Title IX Coordinator. The only exceptions to a faculty member’s reporting obligation are when incidents of sexual misconduct are communicated by a student during a classroom discussion, in a writing assignment for a class, or as part of a university-approved research project.
Sexual misconduct includes: sexual harassment, nonconsensual sexual contact, non-consensual sexual intercourse, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual exploitation, and retaliation. IUP’s Sexual Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct Policy addresses these incidents, whether they occur on or off campus and expand upon the requirements set forth under Title IX.
Reports may be made at any time (including during non-business hours) by using the online reporting form https://www.iup.edu/socialequity/reportan-incident-of-concern/index.html, or by contacting the Social Equity and Title IX Office directly at title-ix@iup.edu, by phone at 724-357-3402, or in B-17 Delaney Hall.
Employees are obligated to report sexual violence or any other abuse of a student who was, or is, a child (a person under 18 years of age) when the abuse allegedly occurred to the Department of Human Services, at 1-800-932-0313, and University Police, at 724-357-2141.
Information regarding the reporting of sexual violence and the available resources can be found at: https://www.iup.edu/socialequity/policies/sexual-discrimination-and-sexual-misconduct-resources/index.html
