Explore practices, trends, and difficulties of people primarily identified with one culture attempting to interact with people of another culture through speaking, listening, writing, and nonverbal means. Problems of intercultural communication situations for business are pinpointed, elements of the problems clarified, and guidelines projected for problem mitigation. Prerequisite: BIOL 202 and a grade of “C” or better in CHEM 332 Description: A foundation in biochemical principles emphasizing the structure/function relationships of proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, and lipids. Catalysis by enzymes, including reaction mechanisms, kinetics, and regulation of activity are considered in detail. The structure of biological membranes and transport of both solutes and signals across membranes are explored. Assumes an understanding of eukaryotic cell structure and organic chemistry of major functional groups. |
