Description: Survey of the seasonal herbaceous flora in the northeastern portion of North America (with emphasis on the herbaceous plants of Pennsylvania). Classes will focus on field identification of representative individuals by common names and botanical families, use of floral formulas to describe plant parts and reproductive strategies, and current research in the field. Students should have at least one undergraduate course in botany or ecology.
