Prerequisite: Early childhood education/special education majors only Focuses on major theoretical principles and basic knowledge regarding the nature and characteristics of children with significant adaptive behavior and learning needs. Presents practical information and explores the positive potential of children with significant needs. Introduces the legal foundation and federal regulations of IDEA that guide the assessment and instructional planning to include the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) and the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Examines information that is critical and generic to instruction in all domains and content areas.
