EDHL 115 - Introduction to American Sign Language Class Hours: 3 Lab/Discussion: 0 Credits: 3
Prerequisite: Deaf education or disability services major or Deaf studies minor or permission Development of manual dexterity and fluency using fingerspelling. Acquisition of basic American Sign Language syntax, semantics, vocabulary, and pragmatics. Practice in acquiring general information from a signed message and conversing informally on commonly used topics. Exploration of the history of ASL and cultural aspects within the deaf community.
