JRNL 220 - Writing for Media Class Hours: 3 Lab/Discussion: 0 Credits: 3
Prerequisite: JRNL 102 with a grade of “C” or better, journalism and public relations majors only A course in journalistic style for students who plan to become professional writers. Teaches the basic journalistic formats and strategies used in print media—such as the summary lead, the delayed lead, and the conventional news-story format—and in digital and online media, such as writing for blogs and writing in chunks. Throughout, emphasizes economy, clarity, and the development of voice for a given medium.
