ENGL 632 - Composition Theory and Practice Credits: 3 A study of current theories of composition and ways those theories might be enacted in the composition classroom for students who will teach on the postsecondary level. Time in the course will be spent on both discussion of readings of theoretical texts and development of teaching activities based upon those theories. The course will include an historical overview of the discipline, focusing on process and post process theories for teaching composition that have emerged since the publication of Peter Elbow’s seminar Writing without Teachers (1973).
