GEOS 345 - Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology Class Hours: 3 Lab/Discussion: 3 Credits: 4
Prerequisite: Grade of “C” or better in GEOS 301 Description: Introduces the origins of metamorphic rocks in the context of plate tectonic activity, emphasizing melting and crystallization processes as well as metamorphic reactions. Laboratory exercises focus on rock identification and interpretation on hand sample and petrographic microscopy. Includes field trips that may occur on weekends.
