The Accounting undergraduate program at the Eberly College of Business, in February  2023,achieved supplemental accounting accreditation by the AACSB, the premier accrediting body for business schools in the world. The program is one of only two accounting programs in the western Pennsylvania region to have achieved this supplemental AACSB accreditation. Worldwide there are only about 194 accounting programs that have this supplemental accounting accreditation, which is the ultimate endorsement of quality.

Our professors bring a mix of real-world, international, and national accounting experience along with exceptional scholarship. But what they are known for is their commitment to teaching their students and preparing them for successful careers in business. Expert professors blend classroom experience with real-world expertise, teaching subjects from financial reporting system design and analysis to managerial accounting, taxation, and more. You will be assigned a faculty advisor as well to guide you throughout your stay at IUP.

Students in the Accounting Department build employable skills for career opportunities in government, industry, and nonprofit organizations. Our accounting graduates are actively recruited by employers. Department faculty actively support internships.

BS in Accounting will facilitate the process of earning highly sought multiple professional certifications. Few of the popular certifications are: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Forensic Accountant (CFA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Financial Forensics Accountant (CF).

Our Student Accounting Association (SAA) is one of the most active associations on the campus. SAA organizes field trips to companies, invites accounting professionals to speak at its bi-weekly meetings. In addition, accounting students attend the annual Career Fair, Networking event in Fall, and Recognition Dinner in Spring semester. These events supported by our active Accounting Advisory Board comprising of over 30 professionals enable our accounting majors to learn, grow, and expand their professional network.
