The Department of Allied and Public Health in the College of Health Sciences offers a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students for professional careers in healthcare, wellness, and human services. Undergraduate offerings include degrees in Exercise Science, Nutrition, Medical Imaging, Medical Laboratory Science, Pre-Athletic Training, Respiratory Care, and Speech-Language Pathology. Non-degree clock-hour programs in Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic training are available through the department’s Institute for Rural Health and Safety.  Graduate programs include Athletic Training, Food and Nutrition, Speech-Language Pathology, and Sports Science. These programs emphasize experiential learning, clinical practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration, equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the demands of today’s healthcare environments.

Many of the department’s programs are accredited by nationally recognized agencies, ensuring high standards of academic and professional preparation. For example, the Exercise Science program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the Athletic Training Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), and the Speech-Language Pathology program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA). Students are also prepared for a variety of professional certifications, including those from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), among others. Through strong academic foundations and hands-on training, graduates are well-positioned for licensure, certification, and successful entry into the workforce or advanced study.  The department’s commitment to academic rigor and collaborative learning ensures students are prepared to lead and innovate across diverse healthcare settings.
