Wildlife and Conservation Biology Minor


The Wildlife and Conservation Biology minor is intended for students to gain knowledge and tools to study ecological problems, conserve wildlife species and their habitat, and understand the role of humans in the environment. This minor is an ideal fit for students seeking careers with connections to wildlife conservation, such as Criminology, Geography, Geoscience, and Chemistry. Students can expect to gain skills and career opportunities in government, private, academic institutions in aquatic or wildlife sciences, ecological conservation or management, and education.

Required Courses: 10cr


  • BIOL 201 Principles of Ecology and Evolution

    OR

    BIOL 103 Life on Earth Credits / Units: 4

  • BIOL 372 Conservation of Plant and Animal Resources Credits / Units: 3

  • Credits: 3

Controlled Electives: 9-10cr


Choose three courses from the options. Other appropriate BIOL courses at the 200 level and above may be substituted with permission of the advisor and the Biology Department chair in advance of taking the course.

Total Minor Requirements: 19-20


No more than two of major’s courses can apply (excluding prerequisite, liberal studies, cognate or college core courses) towards minor.
