Public Health and Community Nutrition Minor

The Public Health and Community Nutrition Minor provides students with foundational knowledge and skills  to promote health, prevent nutrition-related diseases and conditions, and advocate for needed food and nutrition programs and services to help groups, communities, and populations. The minor consists of 18 credits including at least 6 credits from 300-level or higher courses. The minor provides a strong complement to extend specialized knowledge in public health and community nutrition for students in majors such as nursing, biology pre-medicine, public health, and political science.   

 

Total Required Credits: 18


(1) FDNT 212 Nutrition can substitute for FDNT 145 introduction to Nutrition.

(2) Students must attain a grade of “C” or better in each of the courses.

(3) Completion of th ePublic Healt and Community Nutrition minor or certificate does not guarantee entry into th eNutrition major.  Students desiring the Dietetics track must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and grades in science and food and nutrition courses are a “C” or better.
