Mathematics Education, BSED

Program Code: MAED

The program leading to the BSEd degree with a major in mathematics education prepares the student for teaching mathematics at one of two different specializations. The secondary mathematics specialization prepares the student for teaching mathematics in grades 7-12. The middle level education specialization prepares the student for teaching grades 4-8 with an emphasis in mathematics. Graduates from the program also have the option to continue their formal education at the graduate level or work in government or industry.

No other MATH courses may be used toward Crimson Core.

Students completing the Middle-level Mathematics Education Specialization will:

a. complete BIOL 103  or BIOL 104  or BIOL 106  to meet the Scientific Reasoning requirement of the Crimson Core.

b. complete ECON 122  , GEOS 102  , and GEOS 101   or GEOS 111   as Crimson Core Electives.

 

Students completing the Secondary Mathematics Education Specialization will:

a. Complete MATH 125  to meet the Quantitative Reasoning and Data Analysis requirement of the Crimson Core. 

b. Complete one course with the prefix BIOL, CHEM, or GEOS to meet the Scientific Reasoning requirement of the Crimson Core.
