The Associate in Applied Science Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts is a five-semester program designed to prepare students for entry into the baking and pastry profession.  This program combines intensive hands-on training in professional kitchen laboratories with instruction in fundamental and advanced baking, pastry techniques, culinary theory, liberal studies coursework, and a paid externship providing students with a strong foundation in both practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Students will complete four semesters of competency-based instruction on our Punxsutawney Campus, and a final semester on a full-time, paid externship, gaining real-world experience in a professional setting. This program’s contemporary, experience-focused approach enables students to develop proficiency in baking and pastry techniques, culinary foundations, and business management, supported by a broad-based liberal arts education. Graduates are well-equipped to pursue careers in bakeries, patisseries, hotels, restaurants, resorts, and other foodservice venues, or to continue their education in hospitality or related fields.
