The information technology focused Management Information Systems degree provides graduates with the skills and knowledge to take on professional positions in the Information Technology field. More than just a computer science degree, the Management Information Systems Information Technology (MIS-IT) bachelor's degree program gives you the combined business, technical, and analytical skills employers want. It provides skills for graduates to grow into leadership positions, pursue research, and enter graduate studies in the field.

A vibrant field, MIS-IT emerged as a result of rapid advances in technology and the need for organizations to quickly adjust to these changes. The MIS-IT degree encompasses courses spanning the latest technological advances in computing, security, and information management, thus enabling graduates to be valued contributors in this vibrant field. Students become proficient in networking, cybersecurity, programming, analysis and design, database development, various architectures, client-server applications, and user/manager involvement in business environments. Students also understand key business issues such as profitability, budgeting, collaboration, and project management. Graduates are team leaders who have critical thinking skills, the ability to analyze and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data, and the capability to model problems and apply problem-solving strategies.

Must include BCOM 307 or BCOM 321  

Free Electives: 18-20


Total Degree Requirements: 120


(1) MATH 121  or MATH 125   may substitute for MATH 107   and MATH 108  

(2) MATH 114 or MATH 117 or MATH 216

(3) ECON 121 (completed as a Crimson Core requirement) may count toward the 18 credits required for the Business Administration minor. Thus, 15 additional credits are required to complete the minor. 

(4) If a 6 credit CMSC 492 is taken, 3 credits may be applied towards Controlled Electives.

(5) Courses may not count toward both Controlled Electives and Minor in Business Administration.
