Economics majors can build additional research and analytical skills through the Economics Honors Program (1), which features the econometrics course sequence. Accomplishments across these courses will help students stand out in a competitive job market and can lead to other experiential learning opportunities such as delivering conference presentations based on completed econometrics coursework.
The honors program is open by departmental permission to economics majors. Minimum GPA standards must be met to graduate with the Economics Honors Program designation. A minimum 3.25 overall (cumulative) GPA must be met, and a minimum 3.25 Economics major GPA must be met. Students should consult their advisors to determine how honors program courses may be integrated into existing requirements for economics majors. To apply, students should consult the chairperson of the Department of Finance and Economics regarding next steps.
(1) For courses taken as part of the Economics Honors Program, a grade of “C” or better must be earned in each course if taken at IUP.
