Health and Physical Education Certification Only

The post-master Health and Physical Education Certificate is an 18-credit teaching certification program designed for individuals who already have a master’s degree and initial Pennsylvania teaching certification in another content area.

Specific criteria must be met prior to admittance. Applicants must have:
1. a master’s degree in any field
2. initial Pennsylvania teaching certification in any content area.

EDUC 641 - Student Teaching Field Experience Credits: 3-6
HLPE 519 - Field Practicum I Credits: 3
HLPE 520 - Health Education and Promotion at the Workplace Credits: 3
HLPE 556 - Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology for Health & Physical Education Credits: 3
HLPE 615 - Curriculum Design and Assessment in Health and Physical Education Credits: 3
HLPE 631 - Motor Learning Credits: 3

Total Credits: 18

1. In order to earn PA teaching certification, students must pass the required Praxis exam.

2. Students may need to take additional coursework for Pennsylvania health and physical education certification if they don’t have prerequisite methods courses. Individual programs will be designed based on a review of transcripts.
